The assignment task:
A critical analysis of an educational issue related to learners and learning (5000 words)
Drawing on your professional experience of learners and learning and / or your personal experience of learning undertake a critical investigation of an educational issue, question or problem. The issue should be grounded in an aspect of the course content.
The assignment must be informed by:
at least one learning theory / theoretical perspective (literature)
your professional and/ or personal experience.
Where possible the discussion should lead to suggestions for improvements to educational practices in respect of the issue you have investigated.
To address this task you will have to select from the very extensive literature and theory about learners and learning. You should look for a theoretical perspective that will provide a suitable theoretical framework for guiding your analysis of the issue. Hence we advise you to start some reading relating to your issue in order to help you identify relevant research literature.
It may be helpful to seek advice from your unit tutor on whether the focus (issue and theory) you are considering is appropriate. Your unit tutor will comment on your title when giving feedback on your outline.
