In Dialogies: An Argument and Rhetoric Reader, Chapters 8-10

1) Read and reflect on Chapter 8, “Using Visual Arguments: Thinking Like an Illustrator”. How can the elements, concepts, strategies, etc. in this chapter assist us as we read, write and think critically. How can the information articulated in this chapter apply to the creation and development of our own texts and evaluation of others? Please use relevant, direct quotations from commentary in this chapter to support your discussion (2-3 references).
2) Read and reflect on Chapter 9, “Researching Arguments: Thinking Like an Investigator”. How can the elements, concepts, strategies, etc. in this chapter assist us as we read, write and think critically. How can the information articulated in this chapter apply to the creation and development of our own texts and evaluation of others? Please use relevant, direct quotations from commentary in this chapter to support your discussion (2-3 references).
3) After reading Chapter 10, please reflect on the several essays you reviewed. Focusing on ONE essay of your choice, write a response where you analyze the effectiveness OR ineffectiveness of the author. If you choose to discuss the effectiveness of the essay, please illustrate why/where the author is effective. If you choose to discuss the ineffectiveness of the essay, please illustrate why/where the author is ineffective and how they could revise to be more effective. Please use relevant, direct quotations the essay in this chapter to support your discussion (2-3 references).
