Management within leading edge
organisations in recent years.
Context
• The contribution to internal communication is an important function that
HR Professionals are now expected to carry out.
• For this assessment you are required write a 2500 word ‘in-house’
magazine feature article based on the assessment title/theme.
• The in-house feature article needs to consider why there has been a need
for a seismic shift in how leading edge organisations approach
Performance Management in recent years.
• The ‘why’ is key! What have been the key drivers? How are organisations
now thinking about their approach to PM in a new light?
• Important to think beyond their approach to ‘appraisal’ in your article.
IMPORTAN
T
The audience for such an output are
normally knowledgeable and ‘time-poor’,
however…
You MUST ensure that your article is
referenced appropriately and there is an
academic focus as well as explore the
way leading edge organisations have
revaluated their approach to PM.
Consider differing viewpoints throughout. Ensure that your article includes a
reference list (at the end), presented as
per the USW Harvard referencing style.
Things to consider
The article needs to be engaging and capture the
audience. Think about the ‘look and feel’ of your article
and ensure that there is a balanced approach.
Structure of your article is another key consideration and
needs to fit the audience that your writing is looking to
capture.
Manage your time appropriately to produce a piece of
work that you are proud and represents your depth and
breadth of research.
Research
We have made
several articles
available to you in
the ‘RESOURCES’
section of
The Articles
• There are seven articles in the resources folder, some may
prove more beneficial than others.
• Note: You do not have to limit your reading to these pieces, but
it would be good to at least engage with these as a means of
making a start.
• The next few slides will provide a brief summary of the articles
available on Blackboard
