Is there hope at the end of this tale? Consider the following quote from an essay based on the short story.

Hi, I was hoping you could help me discuss a response in relation to the short story, The ones who walked away from Omelas

Here is the link to the short story: https://learning.hccs.edu/faculty/emily.klotz/engl1302-6/readings/the-ones-who-walk-away-from-omelas-ursula-le-guin/view

This is the prompt:

Is there hope at the end of this tale? Consider the following quote from an essay based on the short story: It does not surprise us that some of the citizens of Omelas cannot endure the knowledge of this child who bears the misery of the entire town. But their decision to walk away is still shrouded in moral ambiguity since Le Guin tells us that they walk to “a place even less imaginable to most of us than the city of happiness”. Certainly their leaving does the scapegoat child no good. Le Guin does not display world of easy answers. Evil is left unresolved and unreformed. Le Guin is determined to reveal something about the world we actually live in: evil is inevitable and inescapable.

Here is what I have so far:

There is not much hope at the end of this tale. Even if a citizen decides to walk away from Omelas, the boy in the basement will still suffer as long as there is only one person who wants to stay. Here, LeGuin says that the world is not willing to change enough to end suffering. The only hint of hope at the end of the story is that one person walking away from Omelas will make other people follow them in order to start a new society. LeGuin does not say whether or not she thinks this is possible.

Thank you so much for all your help:)
