Essay Prompt: (1) Explain what Plato’s vision of the ideal state is, and how it represents a critique of democracy. (2) Also, mount a critical response to Plato based on your own thinking about the vision of the ideal society.

For the firsty half of the essay, please address: (1) Who does Plato think should rule? Why; (2) What are Plato’s concerns about the other forms of government (Discuss: Democracy, Aristocracy, Timocracy, Tryanny and Oligarchy); (3) Whare the motivations behind his proposals regarding censorship and education? (4) What assumptions about human nature does he make in hs thinking about these issues? How plausible are these assumptions?

Second part of essay: Formulate an argument why you disagree with Plato. Explain the reasons why you disagree, and do so in a way that aims to convince the reader of the soundness of your reasoning. Basically justify your reason.
