Wk 2 Discussion, Prior to posting your initial discussion forum post, review the second and fourth goals in the DHS Strategic Plan : FY2020-2024. Then, read Chapter 6 of your primary text. In the primary text, Bullock, Haddow, and Coppola (2016) state:

The nation’s security and economic stability are contingent upon effective maintenance of secure borders, effective enforcement of immigration laws, and enforceable customs policies and procedures. These three tasks are monumental in their scope…. By consolidating these functions under the DHS umbrella, the various agencies involved in their conduct have increased the effectiveness of each, and as a result, the nation is likely safer and more secure. (p. 269)

Demonstrate how the reorganization of Border Protection, Immigration, and U.S. Customs agencies and their functions under DHS have had a positive or negative synergistic effect and increased or decreased the effectiveness of each agency. How has the reorganization enhanced the goals of the Department of Homeland Security? Select one program or initiative out of Chapter 6 of your primary text, and demonstrate how it enhances the security of the United States. You may look at this reorganization from the federal, state, or local government perspective.
