Clinical Prevention and Population Health.
The DNP prepared nurse is an essential player in regard to the elimination of health disparities and the improvement of population health. A core component of APN graduate nursing preparation is that of clinical prevention and population health. As discussed in your readings this Module the identification of outcomes is an essential first step in planning effective interventions and then the evaluation process. The readings are from the textbook called “Population-Based Nursing Concepts & Competencies for Advanced Practice” by Ann L. Cupp Curley. Using your readings from this Module’s Chapters, links, and websites and Healthy People 2020 identify a health outcome for a vulnerable population of interest to you. Discuss what government agencies or websites might provide useful information regarding this outcome. Examples of such agencies might be the CDC, AHRQ, or the NIH –include several and describe. Also, discuss how might a Doctorally prepared APN be involved in the reduction or elimination (improving) of this outcome? Using the DNP Essentials minimum 3 or more, provide examples.
