Candidates will describe the evidence observed of best practices for teaching and also learning mathematics.

Part 2: REFLECTION ESSAY/ANALYSIS
Based on their experiences, observation of best practices, and research, candidates will:
Write a 2-page paper analysis of the Best Practices observed in the math video. Your analysis should address the following:
the learning activities/concepts,
the role of the teacher,
communication,
the role of student,
accommodations,
motivation,
monitoring,
assessment practices,
problem-solving,
differentiation,
learning environment, and also the role of reflection.
Also, candidates will reflect on:
Firstly, what effect did instructional activities you observed have on you, the preservice teacher’s perceptions of integrating math or according to CCSSM practices and NCTM – making connections?
Secondly, how, if at all, did the teaching activities change you, the preservice teacher’s aspirations of teaching in a math classroom?
Answer the following question while making references to the video and research (provide both in-text citations and a reference list).
Why do some students excel while others struggle in mathematics? (2 paragraphs max)
Lastly, ensure that the paper is at least three pages exclusive of the cover and the reference pages.
