What are the ‘solutions’ to disadvantage in organizations

‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌description of the Assessment: Write an essay (3000 words, not including references) discussing the following topic: What are the ‘solutions’ to disadvantage in organizations suggested by liberal, radical and post-structural feminism and how effective are formal equal opportunity policies in reducing gender disadvantage in organizations? What types of resistance do occur against equal opportunity policies; what are the causes of such resistance, how does it manifest and how can they be overcome? Main

Objective of the assessment
1. To demonstrate an understanding of gender as a conceptual category and its links with organizations.
2. To demonstrate an understanding of how theorizing on gender and organizations overlaps with or diverges from mainstream management theory.
3. To demonstrate an understanding and analysis of approaches taken to gender equality. Points to discuss in your essay:
• According to Acker, Butler and other gender scholars, gender is not set at birth but is created and performed in an on-going process that relies on socialisation and social control practices that disadvantage women and advantage men. Several institutions including the workplaces are implicated in this process. Describe how conditions that reproduce existing gender arrangements are in creation at the workplace.

Provide evidence of the persistence of gender inequality and of gender-based advantage.

Discuss how cultural images of gender are widely in dissemination through organizations.

Income and status inequality also partly created through organizational processes

How gender identity, especially masculinity, is largely the product of organizational processes

Drawing on Acker (1990), discuss how Gender segregation is partly in creation through organizational practices

Compare and contrast liberal, radical and post-structural feminist theory in terms of their differences in regard to their key concepts, view of differences and gender, view of organisations and cause of disadvantage; also discuss their proposed solutions to gender inequality

Describe equal opportunity and diversity management policies and discuss their effectiveness Points to rem‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌ember:

Specify your sources clearly in the assignment and use the Harvard referencing style consistently.

We recommend that you segment your assignment by using meaningful headings and sub-headings.

Be as specific and clear as possible in explaining and supporting your claims. Support your claims with references.

Use organisational examples, well-chosen quotes and data as appropriate.

Your assignment should include both a description and an analysis/interpretation, with emphasis on the latter.

The linkage to course concepts should be explicit. Although you need not explain or describe the course concepts in great depth, you should describe them briefly and provide references/citations to their sources.

Explicitly mention (and reference) course materials (that does not include lecture slides) that are directly relevant to your analysis. The best way for you to demonstrate your mastery of course concepts is to apply them appropriately in your analysis, explaining their relevance.

Generic Mark Descriptors Particularly Excellent:

Particularly excellent description and equally excellent critical discussion of relevant literature and theory is in provision. Literature is plentiful and appropriate.

Discussion draws on a particularly excellent interpretation and critical understanding of the literature and theory and on examples from work organisations. Very clear conclusion which restates the topic and summarises the work, is in provision.

No grammatical and/or other errors or inconsistencies in citations/references. The organisation of the text at the structural level (paragraphs, sections) is excellent. I have also included an additional material file which includes the sources which I would like you to use please. I will provide 6 sources and can you provide 9 so‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌urces from your end please, thanks.
